Love

Last night I had the opportunity to have supper with a long time friend. We laughed about the differences we had in taste when it came to decorating ideas and we shared some of the things God has been teaching us through the pass little while. One thing she mentioned of a speaker at her church said is that we understand in our minds that God loves us but that knowledge needs to go to our hearts so we can really understand, really "GET IT", how much God loves us. Then we need to let that love go to our hands that we may show His love to others.
Do you "Get it"?
I know, if you go to church, you have most likely heard that God loves you. That knowledge is in your mind but, have you fully comprehended HOW MUCH God loves you? We know of the cross, the suffering He experienced to fufill the promise of a Saviour and that should be enough for God to prove His love for us, but have we become so calice and imune to physical and emotional pain that we can not grasp the sacrifice He made?
He not only shows it in His death and resurection but also in everyday life. Have we sat with Him this morning and just let Him kiss our cheek? Did we look at ourselves in the bible, the mirror, to see how short we fall from His holiness? How forgiving and gracious He is? For some, the worst thing they can remember doing is taking a cookie from grandmas cookie jar, for some of us... we can think of many shameful things, none the less, He still loves us. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son". He forgives me daily, hourly even by every minute at times. He is so gracious and willing to restore the relationship. He has gone far beyond the call of duty to show what the meaning of love is. Having known this love of His, by accepting how much we need His gift of salvation and constant guidance and forgiveness helps us to know of His love.
Oh.... I pray that not only you but I, will not only understand the love of God in our minds but also in our hearts. That we will get to know God in such a close way that we will experience and know of His love that we be able to then extend it to others.
Stay close
